April Fools Fun for Developers
Since image generation in ChatGPT has recently improved, it turns out it can also make some pretty fun posters for April Fools' jokes related to computer science and programming.
Right? Yes! I think the ideas ChatGPT came up with are actually quite clever. Including the generated posters, it almost looks real.
Who could you fool with a GitHub AI that approves merge requests if they're "probably good enough"? Or how about a new feature in Python 4 that makes the "def" keyword obsolete and replaces it with an emoji of your choice? Paying for every time you copy code from StackOverflow is also pretty funny (until they get the idea and actually do it, of course).
The partnership between Docker and Maersk, where you receive a real physical container for every virtual one you create (complete with GPS coordinates), might just be the best of them all.
Take your pick.
Ps. The small inconsistencies that still exist in the generated images are something we’ll just have to accept for now. Maybe that’s for the best—so people don’t actually start believing this is “real news.” With a bit more time and a few update prompts, it probably would’ve been possible to fix everything.
