Battle Cries, Shield-Surfing, and Joy
Just rewatched The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers for the gazillionth time. Arguably, it's the best installment of the series, with the battle for Helm’s Deep and the fight of men and elves against the Uruk-hai, ultimately saved by Gandalf and the Rohirrim. An epic masterpiece and an undeniable classic.
There are so many moments in this part of the story that trigger a battle cry of my own while watching them. Saruman speeching his army to war, Aragorn literally throwing Gimli into battle, and, of course, Legolas shield-surfing down the stairs.
To me, rewatching these scenes brings a joy that only I can feel in the way that I do. Everyone has scenes of their own that mean something unique to them. Because they've watched them during special moments in their lives, with their friends, with their loved ones. Scenes that might just raise the eyebrows of one person bring a big smile to someone else.
Life is full of memories and moments like those. Cherish them. Relive them, time and time again.
There’s nothing wrong with some joy, anyway. We could sure use more of it today.
