One Boring Task at a Time

Today I realized I have a ChatGPT Plus subscription that I definitely should use more often. There are a lot of administrative tasks in my life that, until now, I’ve just accepted as things I need to do myself—while at the same time, there’s this nice electronic assistant that’s able to do a lot of those boring tasks in a fraction of the time. I’m just so used to doing things the way I know how that I don’t always feel like I have an open enough mind to look for alternatives.

Luckily, since I started listening to AI-related podcasts more often, that closed mindset has opened up a bit. Today, I took another boring task (writing meeting minutes—or a summary, if you will) and created a custom GPT to help me with it. Or rather, I asked the AI to write me a prompt that I could use to generate such a custom GPT. Lazy, lazy—I know. But it works. Maybe it’s not lazy at all—maybe it’s just a smart use of tools.

And of course, it works pretty well. Another boring administrative task offloaded to a model. It still feels both wonderful and a little scary at the same time, but I’ll take it. For now.
