Podcasts That Help Me Keep Up with AI
A user by the name Pri recently wrote a message in my guestbook:
[...] What are the AI podcasts you're listening to?
Great question. Whether you're in favor of using AI or against it, keeping up to date with the current state of affairs in this area is interesting.
I listen to quite a few podcasts in just as many places: while commuting, during a run, in the shower, eating breakfast, vacuuming the house, folding clothes... There are a lot of moments in the day when I have enough mental capacity alongside a physical task to put on a podcast episode.
When it comes to AI, there are a few podcasts that are fully dedicated to the topic and some others that are technical by nature and therefore discuss AI from time to time. The show I listen to the most is AI Report, but I'll refrain from including that in the list below since it's in Dutch. Still, if you know and understand that language and haven’t heard of it yet, please give it a listen. For me, it's the best way to keep up with the current state of affairs in the world of AI.
Apart from that show, here are a few others I listen to from time to time:
- Hard Fork is not an AI-only podcast but has covered the topic more often than not over the last few months. It's not serious and formal all the time, which makes it a good option to listen to during any downtime you have.
- Waveform is an MKBHD podcast (from the popular tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee). Again, not only AI, but still quite a bit of talk on the topic in almost every episode.
To close off, here are some podcasts that aren’t technical per se but have discussed AI and its advantages and disadvantages in the context of their own fields:
- StarTalk Radio, hosted by Neil deGrasse Tyson, features topics from the stars and beyond. A recent episode talks about how AI could be used to cure diseases.
- The Examined Life explores one life question after another, including whether AI will ruin us.
- How I Write goes behind the scenes of the writing process, recently highlighting a case against writing with AI.
What podcasts have I missed? I'd be glad to hear about your favorite shows!
