Rediscovering Motivation

Today marks the start of a five-stage cross-country running competition. Between now and mid-December, there will be five races that take us through muddy fields and damp forests, leaving us completely covered in dirt by the time we cross the finish line.

You must really love running if you're willing to push yourself through all this!

For me, training has been pretty low-key lately. I always seem to hit a wall with running toward the end of the year, especially after a summer packed with competitions. It’s like my body and mind need a bit of a reset and some new motivation, just as the winter season is getting underway.

But hey, I already signed up for all five races in advance, so I’ve got that extra incentive to just go with it and see how things turn out. Sometimes, it’s not about setting a personal record; it’s about getting yourself moving again. It’s the same for me with reading: I dread starting with it, but once I’m immersed in a good story, I’m all in.

The takeaway? Building a habit is sometimes tough, but once it’s there, the rewards make it all worthwhile.
