The Book Found Me
It feels like it’s been a few years since the first news came out about the next book in the Robert Langdon series. In other words, a new book by Dan Brown. Given how much I’ve enjoyed his previous works, this is a story I’d love to read when it’s released. But of course, when that news first came, it was clear it would still be quite a while before that new adventure arrived in the hands of the people.
For a few weeks, I followed all the news about this upcoming book, hoping some early details would leak. I spent quite a bit of time on it. After those few weeks, though, my interest faded, until I completely forgot about it and the new book slipped from my mind.
This week, while on a city trip, I happened to wander into a local bookstore, curious to see if they had anything new to read. And suddenly, there it was: the new Dan Brown book. A big pile of novels, smiling at the browsing customers. And for the first time since that news about Brown’s next work, I thought of it again.
I haven’t bought the book yet, but it did bring me a new realization. It’s clearly unnecessary to follow weeks of news about a release that’s still years away. Any fear I had of missing that release turned out to be completely unfounded. Things like this find their way to you anyway, even if you don’t spend weeks obsessing over them.
Pretty convenient. More time for me to spend on things that are actually useful.
